The following steps may be used to install R on a Macintosh operating system.\u00a0See these directions<\/a>\u00a0for installing R on a Windows operating system.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Go to the RStudio Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) mirror at\u00a0https:\/\/cran.rstudio.com<\/a>. [You can select a different mirror by going to\u00a0http:\/\/www.r-project.org<\/a>, selecting the \u201cdownload R\u201d link in the \u201cGetting Started\u201d box, and selecting a mirror location from the ensuing page.<\/em>]<\/li>\n
  2. Select the \u201cDownload R for (Mac) OS X\u201d link.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Select the \u201cR-3.2.2.pkg\u201d option (or similar if the version number has changed \u2026 the version is now at least 3.4.3) if running Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and higher. (note that the binary support for OS X before Mavericks is deprecated.<\/em>)\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. Locate the downloaded package on your computer (called \u201cR-3.2.2.pkg\u201d or similar if the version number has changed) and run it.<\/li>\n
  5. Select\u00a0Continue<\/code>\u00a0in the first three dialog boxes (first, an installer description; second, a simple software description; third, a user agreement).<\/li>\n
  6. Select\u00a0Agree<\/code>\u00a0to accept the terms of the software license agreement.\n

  7. Select to install R for all users or on a specific disk (simply use the all users option unless you wish to install R on a disk partition or external drive). Press\u00a0Continue<\/code>. (Note that you must select an option before the\u00a0Continue<\/code>\u00a0button will activate.<\/em>)\n

  8. Select\u00a0Install<\/code>.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  9. A dialog box will prompt you for the password to your user account. Input your password and press\u00a0Install Software<\/code>.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  10. R should then begin installing files. If everything goes well, then you should get one last dialog box noting such. Press\u00a0Close<\/code>.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
