This is a one to two year project, with potential for extension for additional years.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"dq81\">The research will involve state of the art acoustics equipment deployed on autonomous underwater vehicles and Saildrones, as well as from traditional survey vessels. The incumbent will work with the acoustics data collected with automated unmanned vehicles. Acoustic survey data will also be used to investigate questions about species distributions and associated food web interactions in the Great Lakes such as vertical migration.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"2ef1f\">The incumbent will be based at Cornell University in Ithaca or the Cornell Biological Field Station on Oneida Lake, close to Syracuse NY. Periodic travel to the USGS Great Lakes Science Center in Ann Arbor Michigan to interface with collaborators and participate in field data collections is expected. Positions are financed by the Research Council of Norway under the CRIMAC Centre for Research-based Innovation, hosted by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), with UiB as one of 10 centre partners.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"5ud6k\">The PhD candidate will be affiliated with the Acoustics Research group at UiB\/IFT.
