{"id":1766,"date":"2023-01-13T12:52:40","date_gmt":"2023-01-13T18:52:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/units.fisheries.org\/fits\/?p=1766"},"modified":"2023-01-13T12:52:40","modified_gmt":"2023-01-13T18:52:40","slug":"fits-election-for-president-elect-accepting-nominations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/units.fisheries.org\/fits\/2023\/01\/13\/fits-election-for-president-elect-accepting-nominations\/","title":{"rendered":"FITS Election for President-Elect- Accepting Nominations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We want you to run for FITS President!<\/p>\n<p>Come join the vibrant team of leaders in FITS as we serve on the Governing Board of AFS, create exciting symposia, host advanced workshops, and award deserving individuals in the fisheries science profession.\u00a0 The election for the position is planned for March.\u00a0 The winner of the election will start the position in August of this year by gaining 2 years of experience learning and participating on the ExComm as the incoming President during the monthly calls, followed by a 2-year stint leading the Section as the President, then a final 2 years of bestowing your knowledge and expertise to those coming up through the ranks.\u00a0 As President, you will have travel fund support for annual meetings. Anyone interested in nominating themselves or a colleague can contact the Incoming President, Patrick Cooney, at <a href=\"mailto:pcooney@smith-root.com\">pcooney@smith-root.com <\/a>by <strong>January 31st!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other Opportunities to get involved in FITS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Center for Fisheries Technology and Collaboration<\/strong> (CFTC).
