MNAFS will hold its 2022 annual meeting virtually. The Executive Committee weighed evidence of the COVID pandemic and its effects on potential in-person attendance and the community and determined that a virtual meeting will best suit our needs during this pandemic surge. We will incorporate many of the activities of an in-person meeting and will add new ways to celebrate.
The meeting dates have not changed and will still be from February 7-9, 2022.
The usual raffle and silent auction will be delayed until 2023. The possibility of ordering t-shirts is still in discussion. The new design features a great bluegill print + text on a light green long-sleeved technical fabric shirt.
Date: February 7 – 9, 2022
Theme: Investing in the Future
This meeting will provide students and professionals with the opportunity to learn and present on the extraordinary fisheries research and management in Minnesota. In addition, the intent this year is to highlight the long-term benefits of our involvement in our own professional development and in support for future generations of fisheries folks. Submissions can encompass the broad diversity within fisheries, but should benefit a range of audiences that aim to advance the science of fisheries ecology, conservation, and management. Presentations that are consistent with the meeting theme are encouraged in addition to our more standard topics. If you have suggestions or would like to assist in creating a specific symposium, please let us know (contact information below).
Please consider submitting an abstract for a paper presentation, poster presentation, or both! In addition to our standard poster and 20-minute paper presentation abstracts, we will be accepting abstracts for shorter 10-minute paper presentations to allow an opportunity for those with incomplete projects or projects that may be in a proposal or design phase to present. These short-format presentations were popular in our previous in-person meeting and are especially helpful for those who want to get their feet wet in a welcoming and understanding environment.
All submissions will be considered (students are particularly encouraged to participate!). Please contact Patrick Schmalz (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Keith Reeves (email@example.com) with any questions.
Networking opportunities, paper and poster presentations, business meeting, and more!
For additional information please contact Keith Reeves at KReeves.firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Full meeting Professional – $40
Full meeting Student – $30

We plan to set up mostly live presentations and possibly quick poster talks as well. Due to the change in venue, especially for those who had decided to avoid an in-person meeting, you may submit an abstract for consideration by January 18. For questions and options about submitting an abstract, please contact Patrick at Patrick.Schmalz@state.mn.us.
