Dear Tennessee AFS Membership:
As many of you are aware, the number of reported cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has continued to increase in Tennessee. Over the past week, several institutions, federal agencies and neighboring states have established travel restrictions for their students and employees. Given the impact of these restrictions on our membership, and our responsibility for the well-being of our fisheries community, the Executive Committee has regretfully decided to cancel the 2020 Tennessee Chapter of the American Fisheries Society meeting in Gatlinburg, TN.
The Chapter will begin working to refund registration for all pre-paid attendees as soon as possible. However, if you have booked rooms at the Edgewater Hotel, you will need to call 1-800-423-9582 to cancel your reservation. If there are any issues in getting reserved rooms reimbursed, please let Mark Rogers know.
We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause and hate that we won’t be able to gather this year. Despite not being able to meet in person the Chapter still has business that needs to be conducted. We will be in touch as we move forward about virtual and online capabilities to conduct TNAFS Chapter business including officer elections.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Brandon Simcox (President)
Mark Rogers (President-Elect)
Brenda Pracheil (Past-President)
Shawna Mitchell Fix (Secretary-Treasurer)
Also, here is a message from Shawna about the reimbursements:
