The Habitat Section of the American Fisheries Society facilitates professional networking and increases awareness of local and national fisheries issues. Officially, its mission is to encourage the advancement of knowledge and exchange of information on the broad scope of multidisciplinary fish habitat issues, including marine, estuarine and freshwater, among members of the Society who belong to the Section.
Founded in 1870, AFS is the leading source of fisheries and management information across North America and around the world. Its Fish Habitat Section members are likewise some of the most knowledgeable subject matter experts of fish habitat needs, alteration, and renovation.
