On May 23, 2026 we will celebrate the next World Fish Migration Day. We invite you all to host events and to spread the message in your network. Migratory fish need our support as there is still a lot of negative pressures on river and delta connectivity around the world. We want to unite the global movement and show the world the solutions and willingness to create change.
The theme for WFMD2026 will be: WE ARE RIVER PEOPLE. Rivers have always been connecting us, just like they connect fish. When we protect a free-flowing river, we protect not just the fish, we protect everyone. We are connected to fish, rivers and each other. We are cultural and spiritual connected. This year we focus on this strong connection and visualize it through art. More news will follow during the upcoming months.

After we ended the World Fish Migration Foundation last year I started a new job at the engineering company McMilen. Next to working on river connectivity and dam removal projects I agreed to keep the WFMD going. This is an important and only way to raise international awareness for the sake of migratory fish and the rivers they use as swimways.
