Joining the AFS Physiology Section

Become a Member of the AFS Physiology Section Today!

Becoming a member of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) does not automatically enroll you in the Physiology Section. To be part of the AFS Physiology Section community, you must specifically select the Physiology Section as an add-on during the membership process and pay the associated Section dues. Many AFS members in our community are unaware of this extra step, so please verify your selections when joining or renewing.

New Members

  1. Create an AFS Member Account
    i. Follow this link to create your account: Create an AFS Account
ii. Under “First Time User,” select “Create a Profile,” then enter your contact information and create a password.

  2. Choose Your Member Type
Review the available membership types and select the one that fits your status.

  3. Add Your Section Membership
This step is essential. Under AFS Sections, be sure to check the box for the Physiology Section to add it to your membership.

  4. Complete Payment
Your membership and section selections become active once dues have been submitted.

Renewing Members

AFS launched a new membership system, so renewing members should log into the updated portal. During renewal, you must re-affirm your Physiology Section membership before submitting payment. Simply renewing your general AFS membership will not automatically renew your Physiology Section membership.

Membership Confirmation and Terms

If you need to confirm what is currently on your account, log into your AFS profile and review the “My Participation” or “My Dues and Subscriptions” tabs to confirm active Physiology Section Membership. AFS memberships run on a calendar-year basis and expire each December 31. Anyone joining on or after September 1 receives the remaining months of the year at no additional charge, with the paid membership applied to the following calendar year.
