The International Congress on the Biology of Fish (ICBF)

International Congress on the Biology of Fish (ICBF)

The Physiology Section of the American Fisheries Society proudly organizes the International Congress on the Biology of Fish, the premier meeting of fish physiologists in the world.

ICBF meetings provide a valuable international forum for researchers and scientists in the field of fish physiology to convene and exchange their latest work and ideas. These conferences feature plenary sessions delivered by preeminent global experts, setting the stage for the meeting’s thematic focus. The program spans several days and includes concurrent session tracks led by renowned fish physiology researchers. The session topics cover a wide range of current research areas within fish physiology. This typically encompasses disciplines including conservation physiology, examining physiological impacts on fish preservation; environmental physiology, exploring how factors like climate change affect fish; evolutionary physiology, studying how fish have adapted over time; the uses of fish models in biomedical research; and other emerging topics. A core component of these meetings is the opportunity for researchers at all career stages to orally present their work or share findings through poster presentations. Abstract submissions are encouraged, with a directed emphasis on highlighting the contributions of early career scientists and promoting their integration into the fish physiology research community.
