Control of the Most Common Problematic Aquatic Plants in the Southeastern States (Session 2)

Time:  1:00 – 5:00 pm

Prerequisites: None

Description: Identification and the most effective control methods of common aquatic plants found in small impoundments in southeastern states. The afternoon session will provide information about biological and chemical control methods with a short introduction to primary application methods.  There is a morning session that focuses on identification (additional $25).

Description:  This workshop will cover what students need to know to enter the job market. Topics covered include interviewing skills, cover letters and resumes, how to get into graduate school, and what federal and state employers are looking for in new hires. Target audience is graduate students, undergraduate students, and young professionals.

Plain, Simple, and Concise Writing

Time:  1:00 – 5:00 pm

Instructors:  Steve McMullin (McMullin Training and Consulting, LLC)

Cost: $15 students, $25 professionals

Prerequisites:  Instructor will send one very brief article to participants to read prior to the workshop.

Description:  How to make your thesis, dissertation, or next report 25% or more shorter without losing any critical information. A hands-on workshop to improve your writing no matter what your academic level or stage of career.

Data Visualization with ggplot

Time:  1:00 – 5:00 pm

Instructors:  Steve Midway (Louisiana State University)

Cost: None

Max Attendance: 30

Prerequisites: Prior experience using R is preferred (experience with ggplot not necessary).  Laptop with R, and R Studio installed, and the tidyverse library loaded.

Description:  This workshop will cover using the popular R package ggplot2 for making publication-quality figures.
