Professional Development Workshops

New this year! There is a special option for workshop-only attendees. If you are interested in attending a workshop (in-person or virtual) but can’t attend the rest of the meeting, please choose the “Workshops or add-ons only” ticket (free) on the registration page. This year we are happy to offer three classes:

  • An Introduction to R for Fishery Students and Researchers
  • Science Communication – Tips from a Former Journalist Turned Scientist
  • Introduction to Fly-Tying

Details about each of these classes (prices/dates/instructors) is here. Space is limited, so register soon to reserve your spot!

Volunteer to Judge Student Presentations

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to judge student presentations when you submitted your abstract. We could still use more judges. If you are willing to help provide feedback to our student presenters, please email Jeff Falke (

No On-Site Childcare This Year

We are disappointed not to be able to offer on-site childcare at this year’s meeting. We had a top-notch provider and rooms lined up, but were unable to find insurance after pursuing many options. Many members expressed interest via the childcare survey, showing this is an important unmet need. If you are interested in helping to find a solution for next year’s meeting, please email Erik Schoen ( or the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (

Your planning committee is excited to see you in Fairbanks or online in 3 weeks!

Information about the schedulelodgingsponsor and exhibitor opportunities, and much more is available on the meeting website. Contact if you have any questions, and thanks for being part of our Chapter!
