The Partnership Travel Award is provided up to twice annually (once/six-month period) to deserving FITS members who wish to represent the section at another society’s meetings. The award is meant to encourage networking with groups associated with fisheries science and with AFS, to share knowledge and exchange ideas. Specifically, the Section would like a report on interesting applications of technology and new tools being used, which our AFS members may not be well aware of. The award recipient will represent FITS during the conference and provide a formal summary of their experience to FITS afterward, and is encouraged to submit a paper for the meeting. Examples of potential partners include the Organization of Fish and Wildlife Information Managers or the fisheries societies of other countries.
The award covers up to $1,000 in travel expenses and may be used to cover airfare/driving expenses, meals, registration, and lodging.
We are currently accepting applications until November 31, 2022 , with an award decision by December 30 2022, for meetings held through April 31, 2023.
The next award round will be open until February 28, 2023, with an award decision by March 31, for meetings held between May 1 and October 31, 2023. This application form will remain open at all times.
