As many of you may have seen, abstract submission is now open for the 2019 AFS-TWS meeting.
The symposium I proposed about license sales analyses and constituent survey results to derive insights into motivations of hunters and anglers, and their patterns of activity and participation, has been accepted. Below you can review the session abstract. If your work may be applicable, I encourage you to submit an abstract for an oral presentation at our symposium! You may begin a submission here: https://afs.confex.com/afs/2019/cfp.cgi
Submissions are DUE April 12, 2019!
Under symposium inclusion, select the “I would like to be considered for a symposium” option and type ID #8354 (Symposium Title: Back to the Future: can you survey and license sales data lead us forward in hunting and fishing) to find our session.
Decisions will be sent out by April 25, 2019.
Thank you,
Jeff Kopaska, Iowa Department of Natural Resources
Session Abstract:
The combination of constituent survey results and license sales analyses provide unique opportunities to derive insights into motivations of hunters and anglers, and their patterns of activity and participation. Agencies have been conducting hunter and angler surveys for decades, and hunting and fishing license data has been collected since the middle of the 20th century. With this wealth of data at hand, what have we learned about hunters and anglers, and what can we do to remain relevant as the conservation landscape of the future changes.
